On October 8, 30 adults and students participated in the Lakewood Runs for Youth 5K/10K at Fort Steilacoom Park. Funds raised will be dedicated to services and supports at Clover Park High School. “Students need to know that they have a community of support behind them; a community of people who believe in them and their ability to succeed. Support through events like Lakewood Runs for Youth helps to communicate that message,” noted Leah Livingston, CISL site coordinator at Clover Park High School. Leah and her team connect hundreds of students with a wide range of supports and services including 1:1 mentoring, extended learning, 9th grade summer school, emergency food, bus tickets and tutors for school’s AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) classes. Each day CISL staff are working closely with school staff to keep students on track for graduating on time.
Many thanks to our Run sponsors—Lakewood Ford and St. Clare’s Hospital/CHI Franciscan Health—plus event photographer Brandon Main (Main’s Photography Studios), Jimmy Johns (sandwiches for runners) and Doug Richardson (water for runners).
